Baggy Pants Burlesque with Doc and Stumpy

Doc and Stumpy

Doc and Stumpy, L.A.'s premier burlesque comedy team, present a comic look at the history of burlesque, featuring classic comedy scenes and performances by a leading burlesque dancer.

Andy Doc Davis and David Stumpy Springhorn are fixtures in the L.A. burlesque scene, emceeing shows at the Monday Night Tease and performing classic burlesque sketches.

Doc Davis performed with a number of improv comedy troupes before heading off to graduate school in Performance Studies. His book on burlesque comedy, Baggy Pants Comedy: Burlesque and the Oral Tradition, was recently published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Stumpy Springhorn worked for many years at Universal Studios Hollywood, performing as W.C. Fields and Oliver Hardy, and recently completed a successful engagement at the Dickens Christmas Fair in San Francisco. They have performed at burlesque and vaudeville festivals up and down the west coast and are producing their own show at the Mayflower Club in North Hollywood.

Due to the adult content in this program, it is only open to attendees 18 years and older.

GLAAM Awards, Saturday, 7:45pm

Greater Los Angeles Area Mensa has over 50 years of dedicated volunteer service that has made us the organization we are today and will be in the coming years. We celebrate the consistent and longstanding efforts of the amazing members who have given sustained and consistent service over the years through induction into the Hall of Fame and recognition of different service levels. We also acknowledge the efforts of a newer member and the exceptional performance of our top volunteer from the past year with special annual awards. In this very brief ceremony, we celebrate and welcome new Hall of Fame inductees, acknowledge any changes in someone's Hall of Fame status, and present our Rookie of the Year and Member of the Year awards. All Hall of Fame honorees are encouraged to wear their badges and be present to celebrate the new inductees.

Sunday Stand-up: an Evening of Comedy

Samantha Hale (The Comedy Store, Flappers, Map the Music Documentary Series) aside from years as a stand-up comedienne, has been writer and director of the Map the Music documentaries, a series of films about the connection between music and love.

T&A - Trish and Alex (Comedy Central, Friday Night Lights, The Improv, Slo Comedy Festival) started performing on cruise ships, and graduated to producing on-air podcasts called Laughs on Tap weekly from the San Fernando Valley.

Johanna Petree (aka Wild Jo) is a California girl with a taste for adventure! A musician, comedian, dancer, and writer, Jo uses multiple media to fulfill her bizarre fantasies and entertain other twisted individuals who are willing to see the fun in life!

Angelina Spicer, a bombshell Brooklyn native and the eldest daughter of hip-hop pioneer Jimmy Spicer, has built a impressive online presence with her portrayal of Tyra Banks, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj. Angelina has performed for audiences from coast to coast, and won the Fresh Faces Stand Up competition at The Ha Ha Comedy Club in L.A. She plays a crazy mix of characters like Mrs. Butterworth or Snow Black on Conan.

Josh Waldron - The riff keeps going through the tunnel as we stop along at topics like the faux-pas of Josh's disappearance, the full extent of Mitcz's sports knowledge, the meaning of pretty, the right way to buy a car, scare tactics, zombie immersion environments, long distance relationships, robotic kissing mouths and oh so much more.

Annabelle DeSisto is an IAP (Italian American Princess) originally from South Florida. She has worked on two of the top morning drive time radio shows in the country in both West Palm, FL & Seattle, WA. She performs at Flappers, The Comedy Store, The Improv, The Ice House and anywhere else that has good lighting. You can validate her by stalking her on Twitter @Annabelle417

Jessica Michelle Singleton has created a unique style of comedy based on true stories and interesting observations about growing up in an unconventional household in Alaska, peppered with a tiny bit of neuroses, a slightly distorted sense of reality and bit of an awkward obsession with human sexuality.

Due to the adult content in this program, it is only open to attendees 18 years and older.

Cheese Tasting I: Aged Cheese: $12
The GLAAM cheese tasting has been so popular that we have to split it into two different sessions! The emphasis on this cheese tasting is cheese aging, and tasting the difference on a few select and well-loved cheese including the amazing Époisses and also the great mimolette if the idiotic ban by the FDA has been lifted. Aging cheese is an art and such cheeses are at the higher end of the quality and cost spectrum. For fromage lovers who can't make it to the actual tasting, the presenter will be happy to prepare a personal cheese plate and give a brief talk at hospitality.

Cheese Tasting II: Comparative Fromage: $10
In this session we are tasting and comparing cheeses that are similar in style, such as wash rind cheeses, truffle cheeses, bleu cheeses, etc. We will sample through a very large variety of different cheeses and will probably run overtime (as usual), so please make sure you get to the tasting on time! For fromage lovers who couldn't make it to the actual tasting, the presenter will be happy to prepare a personal cheese plate and present an abbreviated introduction to them at hospitality if desired.

Tea Tasting
Please note: The Tea Tasting which had been scheduled will not take place. Refunds will be issued to those who have prepaid for this.

Van Tour to the California Science Center, Saturday, 9:00am

Tour the California Science Center to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour and IMAX movie. When this tour fills, we will add names to a waitlist for those who pay the registration fee. On the morning of the tour, meet outside at the van by 8:40 am to find out if there is a space for you. If you are on the waitlist and present at the van that morning but not offered a space, your payment will be returned to you. Fee is $12, which covers the cost of the van and the cost of an IMAX ticket and entrance to see the Endeavour.
