South Bay Sunday Salon slips south to Long Beach. We'll eat at James Republic, a farm-to-table restaurant inside the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel at 500 E. 1st Street in Downtown Long Beach. Their menu changes daily, but a sample is at their website, http://jamesrepublic.com/. James Republic uses locally sourced, seasonal produce and sustainable meats and seafood, without hormones or steroids. Parking: the Courtyard by Marriott has a parking garage and the restaurant will validate your ticket for two hours of free parking. First of the Mensth (1*M) is at Xin Bowl (Asian, $$, Bento Boxes, lunch combos, sushi), 1110 N China Lake Blvd (across from the N end of Ridgecrest Hospital), Ridgecrest. Mensa Testing. In person testing in Los Angeles and surrounding areas is currently on hold due to the pandemic limitations on gatherings and the specific facility limitations that we cannot control. Interested parties are invited to email our Testing Coordinator to see if there have been any changes to this since calendar publication. International Diners' Club. Assuming the restaurant will be open for dine-in by that date and that Mensans still want to go out to eat, we will be going to Awash, one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in Little Ethiopia. We have been here once before in 2016 and greatly enjoyed that place. Awash is located at 5990 West Pico Boulevard between Crescent Heights and Fairfax.
