We had such good attendance and wonderful conversation at our Inland Empire Sunday Brunch at Woody’s Classic Grill on July 18th that we decided to make it a monthly event. Woody’s describes itself as a “down to earth restaurant with an old school feel and great eats.” On Sundays, they serve breakfast until noon and lunch and dinner all day long. We are going to the Brentwood location of Coco Ichibanya, a restaurant chain operated by the makers of a Japanese curry sauce. If you loved the now shuttered Curry House and its wide selection of curry dishes, this place is a good replacement. The regular monthly gathering in AV on the 3rd Tuesday of the month will finally resume on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. It is resuming because the worst of the pandemic is finally over. It is also resuming because Baracoa is not just the best Cuban restaurant that I know, but also the best restaurant that I know period. This month we are going to a longtime favorite of ours, one that has some fine Peruvian dishes, including: Ceviche, potatoes with cheese sauce, a steak dish with rice and egg, fried catfish with yucca… just to name a few of my favorite dishes there.
